The jazz-quintet, "Ketil Gutvik F E M" plays a mix of free form and music composed and arranged by Ketil Gutvik. Inspired by the seventies American avant garde-movement, this group plays modern european freejazz.
Alto Saxophone: Klaus Ellerhusen Holm is Norways hardest rockin' new sax-voice. He is known in Scandinavia through his own trio, "Roundtrip". Klaus also has a duo with Ketil, which will be featured at this year's Kongsberg Jazzfestival and Oslo Jazzfestival. Tenor Saxophone: Atle Nymo is another leading young saxophone-voice of Norway. He is known through his work with the group "Motif", and also the live-CD "Inner Urge", featuring his brother Frode Nymo and Roger Kellaway. Atle also plays with Ketil in a free form trio with drummer Mats Monstad. Double bass & drums: the rythm-section, Ole Morten Vågan (bass) and Andreas Bye (drums) is also Bugge Wesseltoft's new section, besides beeing some of Norways leading instrumentalists. Guitar: Ketil Gutvik is a key person in the new Norwegian avant garde-explotion. Since 1997 he has performed and promoted concerts with free-music at several different venues in Oslo. He brought avant garde music into the very traditional "Oslo Jazzfestival". Part of legendary "The Quintet", with Bjørnar Andresen, Calle Neumann, Eivind Opsvik and Paal Nilsen-Love.
